Engagement Photography – Manuel Antonio Costa Rica – December 2018

This lovely couple got just got engaged here in Costa Rica, and of course; they wanted to get some amazing tropical photos to celebrate their love. Manuel Antonio is full of beautiful areas,  and we chose Playa Espadilla, Manuel Antonio’s famous beach for our photo session. We danced at sunset, climbed rocks and got wet; it was a fun shoot!

Waterfall and Beach Engagement Photography in Costa Rica – August 2017

This adventurous couple; on a surfing vacation in Costa Rica; wanted to get some memorable engagement and save the date photos. I met them up at their hotel in Dominical and we drove to a beautiful little rainforest waterfall I know nearby. Approximately 30% of Costa Rica’s land is protected in nature reserves. There are many hidden gems close to where I live…perfect to get some amazing jungle and waterfall portraits. We then headed back to Dominical  for some gorgeous beach photos. We even did a sand the date in the sand for their wedding next year. Best of luck amigos!

Congratulations to you both…and who knows might see you back in Costa Rica for your wedding!

This lovely young couple wanted to get some beautiful photos to celebrate their recent engagement whilst on vacation in Costa Rica. The weather had been a bit rainy in the afternoon but the clouds cleared for a gorgeous sunset. The light was just perfect to get some spectacular photos shooting into the sun.
Best of luck, maybe see you back in Costa Rica for the wedding!

Rainforest and Beach Engagement Photography in Costa Rica – March 2014

This adventurous couple were vacationing in Costa Rica, and wanted to get some memorable engagement photos. I picked them up at their hotel in Manuel Antonio and we drove 30 minutes to Rainmaker. Rainmaker is a private nature reserve, and one of my favorite “hidden gems”. They have beautiful trails through primary rainforest, the park has many waterfalls and hanging bridges…perfect to get some amazing jungle portraits. We then headed back to Hotel Mariposa for a quick change and then off to the Manuel Antonio beach for some gorgeous sunset photos. We had a great day and a lot of fun!

Congratulations to you both…and who knows might see you back in Costa Rica for your wedding!

Locations – Rainmaker, Hotel Mariposa and Manuel Antonio Beach, Costa Rica

Sunset Sail Engagement in Manuel Antonio – February 2014

What an unforgettably romantic proposal!
This couple was vacationing in Costa Rica, when the boyfriend decided to surprise his girlfriend with an amazing sunset proposal. Sunset Sails offer beautiful coastal trips around the islands of Manuel Antonio, they have several different size boat and we were on one of their gorgeous sailboats. We headed out from Marina Pez Vela in Quepos during the afternoon and enjoyed the vistas of Manuel Antonio’s rocky coast with hidden sandy beaches. Dolphins played in the waves at the bow of the boat and at sunset Adam went down on one knee and proposed. It really was a magical trip!

Just in case you were wondering we had to make up quite a detailed story as to why I was there…and it worked! Congratulations and I hope to see you back in Costa Rica for your wedding!

Hasta Pronto!

Engagement Photography Manuel Antonio Costa Rica January 2014

This recently engaged couple came to Costa Rica to vacation, and also wanted to get some photos to celebrate their engagement. Manuel Antonio is full of beautiful areas of beach and jungle. We first visited Playitas Beach at the north end of Playa Espadilla, Manuel Antonio’s famous beach. Later, we headed back to their hotel, The Parador and got a few more stunning photos. We climbed trees, rocks, got wet, it was a fun shoot! Congratulations and Buena Suerte for your wedding!

Engagement Photography Manuel Antonio Costa Rica July 2012

So when a couple tells you they want their engagement photos in the style  of a Tim Burton movie what do you do??

You go for it!

We had the perfect afternoon with dark and stormy rain clouds to give a haunted atmosphere to Manuel Antonio Beach. Unfortunately is was a little too atmospheric and after about 45 minutes Costa Rica showed her true rainy season colors and washed us out. The next afternoon we finished the shoot in more clement weather and got some amazing photos. It’s fun to experiment and do something a little different!

These next 2 photos are identical, The first on is with flash and second without flash and a long shutter speed, amazing how much light is picked up…particularly with a nearly full-moon as we had on this night. I love the grainy-ness of the 2nd photo.

Happy 4th of July! I’m off to shoot a wedding, have a Hot Dog for me!

Honeymoon Photography in the Costa Rican Rainforest May 2012

Earlier this month I took a recently married couple for a photography session in the Costa Rican Rainforest. The honeymoon couple were nature / adventure enthusiasts like myself and jumped at the idea of combining a jungle hike with the photography. We went to Rainmaker, which family run nature reserve about a 30 drive from Manuel Antonio. The park has hanging bridges suspended in the rain-forest canopy, river-side trails, waterfalls and jungle swimming holes to take a dip in..all in all, a Costa Rican Paradise! We had a fantastic jungle hike and I think the photos in the misty rainforest came out really well. On the way back we stopped at a little “pulperia” (a Costa Rican convenience store) and I got some fun colorful photos with the signs outside.

Engagement Photography Manuel Antonio Costa Rica May 2012

There are so many interesting areas and natural backdrops to explore around Manuel Antonio. This shoot felt like we were able to make little photographic stories with each location: boy meets girl…climbing mountains and finally dancing under the “Super Moon” light.

I love what I do and having the chance to meet unique people: creating and capturing moments their lives that they can treasure. I hope you enjoy these photos, I certainly enjoyed taking them.
